TCAPS Community Does Not Want Jame McCall As Sup.

The Issue

TCAPS has suffered unnecessary and costly problems over the past year.  TCAPS leadership has failed to conduct business transparently, failed to prioritize long-term fiscal responsibility, and failed to account for serious missteps:
*An MDE audit established that the TCAPS Executive Team had improperly billed MDE for $700,000 in false student accounting.
*The TCAPS Board and Executive Team has functioned in a bubble without considering ideas from other leaders in education or members of its own community.
*The TCAPS Board, under Sue Kelly’s leadership, failed to retain former superintendent Ann Cardon after unanimously voting to hire her.
*The TCAPS Board and Executive Team has refused to answer questions regarding the costly end to Ann Cardon’s 78-day career with TCAPS.
*The TCAPS Board and Executive Team has refused to produce public documents subject to the Freedom of Information Act.
*The TCAPS Board has refused to comply with the Open Meetings Act.
*The TCAPS Board is being sued by the Record-Eagle for violations of FOIA and OMA.
Jame McCall has been a major factor in these issues.  The TCAPS Board and Executive Team has lost the trust of this community and needs to return the focus of its work to representation of this community.

We implore the TCAPS Board to select a new superintendent who will help bridge the gap between community and TCAPS Executive Team.  For the reasons listed above, we do not believe that current associate superintendent Jame McCall is capable of accomplishing that goal.  TCAPS needs a superintendent who will regain the trust of parents, grandparents, students, teachers, administrators, staff members, business leaders.  Jame McCall is not that person.

I've talked with TCAPS staff members who privately say they agree with this message but are afraid to sign because of the repercussions.  I understand your concerns and want to offer a suggestion.  If you do not feel comfortable signing then please help share this petition and get at least one other person to sign.  Your voice is important and should be heard.
