TAX BANK SUPER-PROFITS AT THE BUDGET
The Issue
I will be presenting this petition to Parliament ahead of the Budget on 28 October calling for a tax on bank super-profits. Please add your name.
While millions across the country are struggling to get by, the big banks are raking in billions in extra profits from higher interest rates.
These higher rates are driving up mortgage payments and rents for ordinary people already hit hard by soaring food and energy bills.
We believe the Government should introduce a tax on bank super-profits at the Autumn Budget.
Experts estimate that a tax on bank super-profits could raise up to £15 BILLION per year to fund much-needed cost-of-living support and help rebuild our public services.
The Government already implements a windfall tax on the super-profits of oil and gas companies. The same principle should apply to banks profiting from higher interest rates.
