I am an adolescent but I understand the changes in the world that we need, if you are an animal lover like myself this petition is for you. Animals all over the world are being abused for absolutely no reason, they're innocent eyes showing emotion just like ours. They sit alone day by day wondering if they will ever be safe, they live in fear of those who are suppose to be caring for them. Each year 250,000 animals are put to sleep in shelters, most of them are victims of abuse. What if this was you? No food, no water, no shelter, no love, just used and abused for the rest of your miserable life. Animals such as dogs are usually over bred and that then results in horrific abuse, but then there's those who are just abused for absolutely no reason. Many people take pleasure in harming a defenceless animal, I can not escape hearing about animals being abused. On the radio, the news, social media everywhere you look there is something happening in the world that involves the mistreatment of animals. My point is if this were to happen to a human the jail time would most likely be a few years, depending on the case. I am trying to improve the life of animals, all I need is your help, equality is something I would love to see change in the world before I die. Animals have a right to live as much as we do, human life is no more important than that of an animals. Do what you can to make a positive change in the world, donate to a cause that helps animals or to a local shelter. Any contributes help, but the biggest contribute would be to show support in my petition. Look into your pets eyes and think, what would you do if someone were to mistreat them? They are apart of your family, your best friend. They are different, they don't look the same nor act the same but inside we are alike. We both have beating hearts, we have minds that think alike and most of all animals also have emotions and feelings just like we do. Animals can sense emotions, like anger, sadness and happiness. It has been scientifically proved that an animal reacts more positively to someone who smiles, they are compassionate and just because they are different doesn't make their life any less than ours. The laws I am looking to change are animal rights laws, I feel that animals deserve to be treated equally. If an animal is abused or mistreated the person who is responsible for the damage shouldn't just be fined, If the abuse is bad they should really be jailed. A fine isn't going to stop the person from abusing the animal, the fine may change their minds about how they treat animals but that is rarely the case. Animals deserve rights and people who abuse animals deserve to be locked up for some time, if things that happen to animals happened to humans then they would most definitely be in jail. Why aren't animal abusers? If these people know that they are going to get jailed if they hurt an innocent animal, this could lead to stopping animal abuse. In Australia the RSPCA respond to roughly 50,000 reports of animal mistreatment, We could lower that amount by 50% if we are lucky. Help me change people's minds and get justice for animals. I was inspired to make this petition when I heard about Caitlyn A 15-month-old dog that was found with her snout taped shut so tightly she needed surgery, she was found on someone's porch on May 27th 2015 in Charleston South Carolina. This is a horrific example of animal abuse, watch her video and see how people changed her life forever. Although this wasn't in Australia many animals like Caitlyn are dealing with this type of abuse all over the world!
