Sunday 16 July 2017 was a grey winter's day but at the Takaka Showgrounds the warmth and strength of the community shone through. The banner shouts 'Save Our Grandstand" but fittingly, the photo here adds another message to Tasman District Council: "This is OUR Grandstand" There were 130-140 members of the community present who collectively gathered to make their wishes clear to TDC. Members of he Motueka Highland Pipe Band travelled 50 km to support the community and warmed the occasion with the indomitable skirl of the bagpipes.
