To the Honourable the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, in Legislature Assembled:

The petition of the undersigned, Arlene Brenner, of the Ensuring Accessible Communication for all, states that: We, the undersigned citizens of British Columbia, respectfully request that the BC Government take immediate action to ensure accessible communication for all residents in any and all emergencies.

Specifically, we call for the use of professional ASL/English and English/ASL interpreters and an inclusion of closed captioning, open captioning, or subtitles during important government announcements, press conferences and live streams. This will ensure that information is accessible to everyone, regardless of their hearing abilities or language proficiency, age or background. It will greatly benefit the deaf, Deaf, hard of hearing, hearing and deaf-blind.

By implementing these measures, the BC Government will demonstrate their commitment to inclusivity for all.
