Take action to protect Palestinian civilians now
The Issue
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli military offensive in Gaza has led to a massive humanitarian disaster. Over 69,000 Palestinians have died as of October 2025. Independent investigations and Israeli intelligence confirm that at least 80-83% of those killed are civilians, including over 20,000 children and more than 10,000 women. The overwhelming civilian death toll, destruction of residential areas, schools, and medical facilities, as well as the blockade-induced famine, constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law. Attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure amount to war crimes and potentially crimes against humanity under the Geneva Conventions and Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).The ICC has indicted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior officials, charging them with war crimes, including using starvation as a method of warfare, indiscriminate attacks on civilians, and destroying essential infrastructure. These charges highlight grave breaches of the laws protecting civilian populations during armed conflict. We call upon the United Nations to:Take immediate action to protect Palestinian civilians from further harm and ensure humanitarian aid access.Commission an independent international investigation into war crimes committed during this conflict.Fully enforce the ICC arrest warrants against Israeli officials, including the Prime Minister, to ensure prosecution and accountability. The facts are clear: the scale and nature of the attacks on Gaza’s civilian population are among the gravest breaches of international law in recent history. The world’s legal institutions must act decisively to uphold justice, prevent further atrocities, and honor the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people
