Take action on Gallatin City Council ethics complaints

Take action on Gallatin City Council ethics complaints
The Issue
Citizens of Gallatin and Sumner County are deeply concerned about the zoning decisions made by their appointed and elected officials. Recently, the proposed development of the Foxland Harbor Marina has stirred significant unrest among the local community. As neighbors directly affected by this proposal, we deserve reassurance that our elected representatives act with our best interests at heart, not their own self-interests.
Some of our Gallatin City Council members failed to properly disclose their Statement of Interest to the Tennessee Ethics Commission (TEC) . These concerns have prompted citizens to file formal complaints.
This case concerns the sworn complaint filed by Gallatin resident Pam Farino regarding the incomplete or missing Statements of Interest submitted by Councilmen Paul Jones, Craig Hayes, Steven Carter, and Steve Fann. These disclosures are required by state law to ensure transparency and prevent undisclosed conflicts of interest.
The Tennessee Ethics Commission is an essential body established to ensure the ethical conduct of state officials. Its role is to instill confidence in the democratic process by holding officials accountable and maintaining integrity in their decision-making. By pressuring this oversight body to act, we can foster a system where accountability is paramount, and ethical breaches are not tolerated.
It is time for the Tennessee Ethics Commission to initiate a thorough review of these complaints against some members of the Gallatin City Council. We implore the Commission to enforce the ethical standards expected of our leaders and bring transparency and accountability to the forefront. By doing so, we can work towards restoring trust in our local government.
Join us in calling for the Tennessee Ethics Commission to act swiftly and decisively. Let us make our voices heard in advocating for the ethical governance we all deserve. Please sign this petition and stand with the citizens of Gallatin and Sumner County in demanding accountability and transparency from our elected officials.
Please sign our petition today and we will make sure the TEC hears our voices.
When citizens speak up—calmly, respectfully, and in numbers—decision‑makers take notice. Your outreach reinforces that the people of Old Hickory Lake expect integrity from their elected officials.
