Bristol Street underpass (Swindon) is a popular link between the designer outlet and Swindon town centre & railway station.

The current opening/closing hours for Bristol Street underpass are: 

• Monday to Friday - 7am - 9pm
• Saturday - 7am - 8pm 
• Sunday - 10am - 6pm

These hours are great for those who work 9-5 but not everyone works these hours so this petition is asking for extended opening hours or potentially a 24/7 underpass. A lot of people work shifts so this would be a benefit to many and not only that but it will make walking home/to work/to a night out at dark safer for people. The longer walk to the designer outlet/Rodbourne & Bridgemead area isn't the safest or well lit whereas the underpass is well lit with CCTV throughout.

The underpass is managed by Swindon Borough council and hopefully this will prove to them how beneficial the extended opening hours would be.  

I’m passionate about this as a couple of years ago I was followed halfway home by a drunk male after a late shift.  Not only this but it will help make Swindon feel safer for everyone.
