Hi people,
I genuinely hope from the bottom of my heart that in this unprecedented time like this you all are keeping safe and healthy. Here I am to give you the update regarding this petition.
In the last update I mentioned the team from swiggy got in touch with me and I also send the report regarding where accessibility is lacking with the help of a friend of mine hu is an accessibility engineer. During that conversation they actually made some changes in the user interface and it was also mentioned in the update but alass! While rectifying one thing they have messed up with other things. Now the names of the restaurants are spoken properly but we are not able to access the menu or add or Amit something from the menu or in other words add anything in the cart. So they improvise in one thing but downgraded the other thing so overall the inaccessibility remains the same. And we also know that in the unprecedented time like this our reliance on online aggregators have increased manifold, and for visually challenged people living alone in urban spaces it was supposed to be much more helpful but it was just the hope unfulfilled. Why it is so that we have to wait for almost a year after starting this petition for swiggy to make their application accessible when zomato made it in just two months with half of the signatures we have on this petition? I recommend one thing and that is to let swiggy no through social media platforms that accessibility is not a luxury but a necessity and the rights of persons with disability 2016 also mandate it. It is frustrating to be in such situation despite of too many people in form of you are with this. What I see is not the charity but the right to equal access. And once again I would like to make a point that accessibility should not be seen as a luxury but a necessity.
But I hope, I hope because there are people behind me on this cause and I hope that such a strong numbers will not go unheard.
Yours aziz with hope.
