STOP further development building in beautiful Sussex County, Delaware!
STOP further development building in beautiful Sussex County, Delaware!
The Issue
Our wonderful Sussex County, Delaware is home to the beautiful beaches; just a quick trip away, the scenic refuge of Prime Hook Wildlife refuge, or simply best local business we can have. Our area is very quiet and away from the major cities like Wilmington, Baltimore, MD, or Norfolk, VA. However, in recent years we Delawareans, and other people that are living on the wonderful Delmarva Peninsula is facing a severe problem area, environment wise, and most likely populations wised, and that problem is Mass Home Development Building.
You see all of us that live here loves the quiet areas. The lush scenery of trees, plants, and flowers, most importantly in the fall. But the unfortunate truth is we are quickly loosing all that due to the Development Building.
Who is responsible for the developments? The Sussex County Council. These are the people who are in the area of deciding who wants to the build the developments, where they want it to be, and how many homes, and area of land it wants to take.
There are a lot of things that these mass developments are causing havoc here in Delaware, this list describes the impacts, they are:
- More congested roads, either on a back road, a state road, or a highway such as US Route 113.
- The developments that are built on any road cannot handle the mass capacity of vehicle traffic, more specifically the back roads. These roads cannot handle large volumes of traffic, and DelDot doesn't even do anything about it.
- Forestry/Trees are cut down and poses a direct threat to wildlife habitats forcing animals to relocate. However, as more are being built animals are running out of space to have a home.
- As more homes are built, there will be more vehicles on the road not only congesting the roads but also making more pollution in the air, and that's not a good thing. Another thing is we need the trees in which it supplies Oxygen in the air.
- Developments that were built on Farmland is now ceased. When more is built, the area of Farmland is reduced.
- Our schools are more crowded due to this problem and it's now posing a direct impact on school districts, even during this COVID-19 pandemic.
- When a Hurricane comes, or any other Natural Disaster, it will be extremely difficult to evacuate the people especially along the coastal areas due to the infrastructure of the roads, and the amount of population. It will cause havoc on local residents too and also everyone may not make it out in time before a storm hits.
The goal into this petition is to tell the Sussex County Council who is actually in charge of all this and is actually the ones destroying beautiful Delaware to tell them enough is enough and it's time to stop! They only care about Money! Not the people who has been a resident for a long time here in Delaware, the environment, the roads, and our wildlife!
I, Andrew Craun, writes this petition to the Sussex County Council to show that me and other people that live in Delaware and even on Delmarva that these building of the mass home developments has now crossed the line and is now having direct impact on Beautiful Delaware area wise, environment wise, and population wise. I challenge that everyone signs this petition. And we aim to change how the County Council builds and plans these Developments. A few developments here is not a bad thing, but how the council is building these so fast, it's now having serious consequences on everything I mentioned. Thank you and God Bless America!
