Palm oil plantations are devastating the rainforests across Indonesia and Malaysia destroying the natural habitat of countless different species including elephants and tigers.
Palm oil is high in saturated fat and low in polyunsaturated fat. Biomedical research indicates that the consumption of palm oil increases the risk of heart disease.
The Heart Foundation does not recommend using palm oil as it made up of over 50% saturated fat.
A change in labelling laws would help consumers make an informative & healthy choice when buying products containing Palm oil "currently hidden" under the general voice : vegetable oil !
