The Ace Project- Protect Special Needs Children from Domestic Violence in The US

The Issue

Special needs children have no choice of the household they are born into. The State of Idaho deems whichever parent's income is greater, deems that parent more “stable”, even if that parent was barely involved in the raising of the child. Special needs children whom aren’t deemed “capable enough of interview” through the department of health and welfare are being abused every day by parents, co-parents and sometimes caretakers. There is no modification for the responsible agencies to interview these children with modification on intake and assessment and this needs to be put into action! These “information catchers,” interviewers, and system workers need new resources to implement change in helping special needs children and adults with neglect and abuse, using specialists and mental health awareness protocols. This is to make their jobs easier and change the tools they use for a better outcome for the abused and neglected. Welcome Project Ace- named after a 7 year old high functioning ASD, ADHD, and ODD. Ace has had documented physical and verbal abuse since he was 2. Several cases dismissed because there is no mandate for collection of evidence and investigation for differently a led children and adults thrown into the system. Pour some patience into children that need extra care for actual abuse happening in their homes-no matter the family name or money involved! Ace is not the only child this is happening to and Idaho is not the only state this is happening in! A single parent or caregiver struggling to make ends meet needing to hire an attorney to protect their kids or adult is unconstitutional! They have enough to struggle with-do you know someone struggling with this issue or a COMPLETE POWER IMBALANCE of justice for DIRECT AND AGGRESSIVE ABUSE? Help us change our kids future and produce awareness!
