Reinstate President Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Day of Humiliation, Fasting, & Prayer Bill

Reinstate President Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Day of Humiliation, Fasting, & Prayer Bill
The Issue
"He who does not love does not know God, for God is love."
1 JOHN 4:8, NKJV
Founding fathers and presidents of this nation knew the importance of prayer and fasting. In 1775, the Continental Congress was the first governing body to proclaim the need for a day devoted to humiliation, fasting, and prayer. During the Civil War in 1863, Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day devoted to prayer and fasting.
"We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace.... it behooves us then, to humble ourselves... and to pray"
~ Abraham Lincoln, Proclamation Appointing a National Fast Day March 30, 1863
Throughout history, prominent leaders have called for a day of prayer to promote peace and unity. In 1988, Ronald Reagan signed for the day to land on the first Thursday in May. Each year the National Day of Prayer falls during the beginning of May and across the country people gathered to remember the day of prayer in their communities. The 'God is Love' Takeover extended to highlight Gods grace, love and redemption for the nation on May 2nd, 2025 with the intention to add more awareness to the historical significance of the law.
As the spirit of revival has ignited around the country, The 'God is Love' Takeover has brought hearts together in love and unity around the nation. In these critical and difficult times, your voice still matters!
