The Issue

This petition seeks to encourage South Gloucestershire Council to hear the views of the community and approve Woodstock Homes’ application on the land south of Bath Road, in order to deliver much needed new homes and secure significant investment for Bitton AFC.

Woodstock Homes, in partnership with Bitton AFC, has submitted a planning application (P25/02501/F) for 40 new homes on the land south of Bath Road, Bitton, alongside a significant investment in new facilities for Bitton AFC.

The proposals include:

• 40 high quality new homes across a range of sizes to help meet local need – this will include 35% affordable homes for both social rent and shared ownership.
• Securing the long-term future of Bitton AFC by enabling the installation of a new 3G pitch and associated infrastructure.
• Energy efficient homes, with a focus on fabric-first approach, helping keep utility bills down, via the use of solar panels and air source heat pumps.
• Increased planting and landscaping across the site.

The delivery of a new 3G all-weather pitch, with supporting modern, high-quality facilities will deliver a number of benefits for Bitton AFC, including:

• Significantly reducing the number of training sessions and matches lost to bad weather, with the 3G pitch proposed capable of supporting year-round use
• Helping secure the long-term financial future of the Football Club
• Supporting training and matches across all age groups, including youth, women’s and senior teams
• Growing participation and improvement for access into football for the wider community
• Strengthening the role of the Football Club at the centre of the Bitton community.

Your views matter.

Before the Council makes a decision on the planning application for the site, which is expected in the coming months, it is important that the local community shares their views on the proposals. By signing this petition, you will register your support for the proposals. Once the period for determination (the period leading up to the Council’s decision) is nearing its end and the Development Management Committee has selected a date to make the decision, the results of this petition will be shared with the application’s Case Officer, ensuring that members of South Gloucestershire’s Development Management Committee are fully aware of the community support for the project.

Thank you for your support!
