The Issue

As members of the Arlington Heights Residents Organization, we are deeply committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and business-friendly environment in our beloved Fort Worth neighborhood. While the Arlington Heights Neighborhood Association often communicates on behalf of our community, it is important to recognize that they do not encompass all residents' perspectives. With this petition, we aim to amplify our voices in support of Zoning Change "ZC-26-110," which will be presented at the City of Fort Worth Zoning Board hearing on September 9, 2026.

This crucial rezoning would transform the property of the old Roy Pope building into a Grocery/Restaurant hub, complete with a waiver for additional parking requirements. Our community is bound by a shared vision—a more walkable, socially engaging neighborhood where businesses thrive and residents happily come together.

Walkability is key to enhancing a sense of community and connection, attributes we greatly value in Arlington Heights. Research reports that walkable neighborhoods not only encourage healthier lifestyles but also bolster local economies. Data from Smart Growth America illustrates that walkability results in increased retail sales, reduces traffic congestion, and improves air quality. Imagine the old Roy Pope site repurposed as a bustling restaurant, where residents can gather over meals and have meaningful conversations, deepening community ties and invigorating our local economy.

We stand by responsible zoning modifications that cater to the aspirations of local residents who long for practical change. This transformation aligns perfectly with the unique character of Arlington Heights. Embracing Zoning Change ZC-26-110 would reflect our evolving needs without compromising on sustainability or our neighborhood's cherished charm.

We urge the City of Fort Worth Zoning Board to listen to our voices and allow this progressive step forward. By signing this petition, you demonstrate support for a more vibrant and adaptable community, one that respects both today's demands and tomorrow's opportunities.

Please join our movement to enhance Arlington Heights, and speak up for Zoning Change ZC-26-110! Let’s shape our neighborhood's future together.
