Support USL players in CBA negotiations

Support USL players in CBA negotiations
The Issue
Soccer players in the United Soccer League (USL) dedicate countless hours training, risking injury, and competing at high levels to provide fans with thrilling matches and unforgettable moments. Despite their efforts, USL players often find themselves underpaid and undervalued compared to their counterparts in other professional leagues.
USL players are over 500 days of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations. At this point 90% of players have voted and the majority have indicated approval to strike. It is crucial that they receive our support to ensure fair compensation and professional working conditions. Professional athletes deserve to be compensated in accordance with the standards expected at this level of play. This means having access to adequate healthcare, proper facilities, and wages that reflect their dedication and contributions to the sport.
Statistics show that many USL players struggle to make ends meet, despite bringing in significant revenue for their teams and the league. According to reports, the average salary for a USL player is significantly lower than that of Major League Soccer (MLS), creating a disparity that undermines the professionalism and attractiveness of the league.
We urge the USL and its stakeholders to recognize the importance of these negotiations and take meaningful steps towards securing a fair contract that will uplift player standards across the board. This includes implementing minimum salary thresholds, ensuring year-round healthcare benefits, and providing appropriate facilities for training and recovery. Basic human needs are not being met in many areas. The league is allowing clubs to provide substandard accommodations but expecting professional outcomes.
Your signature will help amplify the voices of USL players demanding the respect and rights they deserve. Stand with us in calling for fair treatment and professional standards for all USL players. Please sign this petition to show your support and help bring about the change that is needed.
