With municipal elections coming this fall, now is the time for our municipal councils, Waterloo Region leaders, and provincial partners to act.
We are asking them to commit to a feasibility study within the next year, identify and secure a suitable site, establish a funding framework that brings together public investment, private partnerships, and community support, and engage residents, athletes, arts and culture organizations, and community groups in shaping a facility that serves the entire region. Most importantly, we need a clear timeline and a commitment to make this project a priority in future budgets and strategic plans.
The next generation is already here. What they need now is a place to begin.
Over the past several months, I have had the privilege of meeting with community leaders, business leaders, elected officials, and representatives from local organizations. There is growing recognition that Waterloo Region needs this kind of multipurpose social infrastructure, not only for sport and recreation, but also for community connection, health, arts and culture, and a stronger sense of belonging.
Our petition is now approaching 2,100 signatures, demonstrating that thousands of residents share this vision.
I am asking for your continued support in three simple ways:
Continue sharing the petition with your family, friends, neighbours, and community networks.
Consider subscribing to my Substack, where I regularly publish articles advocating for this vision of a multipurpose community hub for Waterloo Region.
If you find the articles valuable, please share them with others who care about building a healthier, more connected community.
Every signature, every share, and every conversation helps build the momentum needed to turn this vision into reality. Link below this update.
Thank you once again for your support and for believing that Waterloo Region can build the community infrastructure our children, families, and future generations deserve.
