The Violence Risk Reduction & Prevention Act (VRRPA) seeks to close dangerous loopholes in Florida’s existing red flag laws by authorizing licensed forensic psychologists and forensic psychiatrists to petition courts for Risk Protection Orders (RPOs). It enables early, clinically informed interventions in cases involving serious mental health concerns or documented domestic violence—before a crisis escalates.

In an effort to minimize the risk posed by firearms, the Florida Legislature has introduced the Violence Risk Reduction & Prevention Act (VRRPA).
