Support the student-led recordings that made learning accessible for many
The Issue
We, the undersigned students of The Open University, wish to express our strong support for the student-led educational recordings and resources that have been shared to enhance learning accessibility. These recordings have significantly improved our academic experience by providing auditory study materials that are especially helpful for neurodivergent students, those facing financial barriers to assistive technology, and students seeking improved retention of module content.
The students behind this initiative, including those who go by the names "Kai Wright" and "Chibs," have demonstrated exceptional empathy, dedication, and a commitment to inclusive, non-profit educational support. These resources were created and distributed solely for academic purposes, with no intent for personal gain, and have meaningfully contributed to the accessibility of our modules.
We respectfully urge The Open University to acknowledge the educational value, positive intentions, and substantial community benefit of these efforts. We ask that the University consider collaborating with those involved to establish an authorised, policy-compliant pathway for continuing this important work—reinforcing the University's own commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and student-led innovation.
