We now have almost 700 signatures on our petition urging SDG council not to stop the roadside tree planting program... and the list of names will be printed out and sent to council, along with a link to the petition, tomorrow. Today's cold, blustery winter weather shows the importance of this initiative. Take a look at these spruce trees, planted 15 years ago on County Road 15 between Avonmore and Moose Creek!  As drifting snow builds by almost half a foot on this cold, sunny Sunday afternoon, the road changes dramatically from bare concrete (protected by trees) to close to a half a foot of snow. On a sunny afternoon when deep snow like this is the last thing a person would expect! Help us reach the 1000 signature mark by sharing this petition with friends and family and on your socials as soon as you can. If you've already signed it, please consider adding a comment for council..  As my son Iain said: "These trees were planted a year after I was born, and now next year when I start driving, they will be helping keep me, other youth, and all members of our community safe." Fifteen years may seem a long time to wait for these trees to grow, but it's really no more than the blink of an eye, as our toddlers become teenagers and head out on county roads for the first time.
