نشأتُ في الكويت، ولطالما راودني حلمٌ بأن أصبح مخرجًا سينمائيًا تُلهِم أفلامي الجماهير وتأسرها في جميع أنحاء العالم. أتخيل إبداعاتي تُنير الشاشات ليس فقط في الكويت، بل في جميع أنحاء دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، ممهدًا الطريق لثقافتنا وقصصنا لتُعرف وتُحتفى بها على نطاق واسع. مع الأسف، يواجه المشهد السينمائي المحلي لدينا عقبات كبيرة.

على الرغم من وجود خطوات مُشجعة، منها عرض فيلم كويتي بعنوان "شيابني هني؟؟؟" للمخرج زياد الحسيني عام 2023 بتقنية دولبي سينما/أتموس، إلا أن فرص عرض الأفلام الكويتية بتقنيات سينمائية متطورة مثل آيماكس، وفور دي إكس، ودولبي سينما/أتموس، وسكرين إكس، وفور دي إكس سكرين لا تزال محدودة. تشمل التحديات قيود الميزانية، والطلب المتوقع في شباك التذاكر، وتكاليف المعالجة السينمائية المتقدمة، والمنافسة على الشاشات المتميزة، واعتبارات التوزيع والتسويق، والمتطلبات التقنية اللازمة لإعداد الأفلام لهذه التقنيات.

تخيّلوا أثر عرض المزيد من الأفلام الكويتية بتقنيات عرض متطورة مثل IMAX و4DX وDolby Cinema وScreenX و4DXScreen، بغض النظر عن نوعها. من شأن توسيع هذه الفرص أن يرتقي بالسينما الكويتية إقليميًا وعالميًا، وأن يلهم جيلًا جديدًا من صناع الأفلام لخوض مشاريع إبداعية طموحة ومشاركة قصصهم مع جمهور أوسع.

لتحقيق هذه الرؤية، نقترح جهدًا تعاونيًا يضمّ جهات محلية ودولية معنية، لاستكشاف فرص التمويل العامة والخاصة، وبناء شراكات تسويقية استراتيجية، والعمل مع مزودي تقنيات العرض المتطورة لتسهيل وصول هذه الأفلام إلى الجمهور. كما أن تعزيز شبكات التوزيع وتبسيط إجراءات الإعداد الفني والموافقة عليها من شأنه أن يساعد المزيد من الأفلام الكويتية على الوصول إلى الجمهور بتقنيات العرض المتطورة.

Support the release of the first Kuwaiti film in premium formats

Having grown up in Kuwait, I have always harbored a dream—to become a film director whose films inspire and captivate audiences across the globe. I envision my creations illuminating the screens not just in Kuwait, but across the entire GCC, forging a path for our culture and stories to be recognized and celebrated widely. Unfortunately, our local cinematic landscape presents significant hurdles.

While there have been encouraging steps, including the release of a 2023 Kuwaiti film, How I Got There (شيابني هني؟؟؟) by Zeyad Alhusaini, in Dolby Cinema/Atmos, opportunities for Kuwaiti films to be presented in premium cinema formats such as IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Cinema/Atmos, ScreenX, and 4DXScreen remain uncommon. Challenges may include budget constraints, anticipated box office demand, the costs of premium mastering, competition for premium screens, distribution and marketing considerations, and the technical requirements involved in preparing films for these formats.

Across the Middle East, several locally produced films have demonstrated that premium-format releases are possible. Egyptian productions such as 7 Dogs and Project X received releases in premium formats across MENA, while the Saudi film Esaaf was released in IMAX in Saudi Arabia, demonstrating that regional productions can meet the technical and commercial requirements for premium exhibition. Additionally, the documentary Fires of Kuwait has been presented in IMAX at the IMAX theatre in The Scientific Center Kuwait, highlighting Kuwait's longstanding connection with large-format cinema. These examples show that filmmakers and audiences across the region are already embracing premium cinema experiences. Expanding similar opportunities to more Kuwaiti productions would build on this momentum and help showcase Kuwaiti stories with the same cinematic impact enjoyed by other regional films.

Imagine the impact of seeing more Kuwaiti films released in premium formats like IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX, and 4DXScreen, regardless of genre. Expanding these opportunities could further elevate Kuwaiti cinema on the regional and international stage while inspiring a new generation of filmmakers to pursue ambitious creative projects and share their stories with wider audiences.
