There has been an attempt by fringe mobs online attempting to pressure UK Cinemas to take down the highly anticipated film, ‘The Lady of Heaven’.

These mobs hold an intolerant, narrow-minded and dogmatic view of Islam. They do not represent the majority of moderate Muslims across the UK who support freedom of speech and freedom of expression.

Their goal is to spread false accusations about this film in an attempt to enforce their own marginal religious interpretations - while in fact, the film is an award-winning production, and experienced a successful full theatrical run in the USA, Canada, Ireland, and other regions. The reception from Muslims and non-Muslims alike has been overwhelmingly positive.

The Holy characters in the film, especially our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family, have been portrayed in a holy and in the utmost respectful manner using CGI, with no actor representing them. There is also no racism in this film, as they misleadingly claim. There are both protagonists and antagonists cast with actors of varying ethnicities, including light and dark-skinned men and women. There is no consensus among Muslims on the historical position of the companions of the Prophet, and so this is merely a matter of historical interpretation. 

The Lady of Heaven is an award-winning film on the life of Lady Fatima, peace be upon her, the most sacred woman in Islam, and a powerful and inspirational historical figure; the first woman who stood up against the powers that be during her time in ancient Arabia while sacrificing her very life. Many across the country have been eagerly awaiting this film for years, and taking it down due to online mobs and bullies is not befitting of a free and progressive country such as the UK!
