The Issue

In December of 1982, a Cumberland Farms oil tanker crashed into the cliffside adjacent to the Golden Eagle Restaurant. Emergency responders deployed aqueous film forming foams to quell the fire, resulting in PFAS chemicals penetrating the ground soil and further contaminating the water supply. Approximately 40 years after the crash, subsequent testing conducted by MassDEP in 2022 revealed that the contamination had withstood the test of time. PFAS chemicals continue to contaminate the property and water supply.

By signing this petition, you are standing with the Morris Family in their journey to seek remediation. This petition signifies your belief that state officials have a responsibility to take immediate and effective action to address the PFAS contamination that stemmed from the 1982 crash.

Thank you for your support.
