Our Macedonia Inc., a not-for-profit organisation committed to preserving and celebrating Macedonian culture in Australia, are reaching out to you to support a cause very close to our hearts. Our mission is to address heritage inequity and the underrepresentation of the Macedonian story and community within Australia's diverse multicultural tapestry. This dream of establishing a Macedonian museum is not just about preserving relics of the past; it’s about educating current and future generations about the rich history and contributions of Macedonians in Australia.

Macedonians have been an integral part of Australia’s multicultural landscape for 100+ years. From the first wave of immigrants to the present day, our community has contributed significantly in various sectors, including education, arts, sports, business and politics. Unfortunately, our rich cultural legacy has yet to be made visible and accessible in mainstream narratives. A museum dedicated to our migration history, cultural identity and heritage would serve as a safe repository of cultural artifacts and lived histories, making it the first public institution of its kind for the Australian community.  It will also serve as a vibrant centre for inclusivity, intercultural understanding, and community engagement.

Our Macedonia Inc. has laid the groundwork for this museum by initiating cultural and educational programs and fostering partnerships with other cultural institutions. However, to bring this vision to fruition, we need your support. We require funding and community advocacy to secure a suitable location and to gather and preserve items of cultural significance for our museum. These steps are crucial to ensure that our rich history is not lost but celebrated and shared.

Time and again, studies have shown that multicultural inclusivity contributes positively to the social and economic fabric of countries. By adding the Macedonian museum to Australia’s collection of cultural institutions, we not only enrich our national heritage but also promote a more inclusive society that recognises and appreciates all its constituents.
