Cleveland Boricua Block Party – August 15, 2026

When I first had the idea for the Cleveland Boricua Block Party, it wasn’t because I wanted to throw another event. It was because I wanted to create something that our neighborhood could be proud of. I wanted families to have a place to gather, local businesses to have an opportunity to grow, and our Puerto Rican and Latino culture to be celebrated right here in the heart of Cleveland.

Over the past several days, I have invested countless hours, my own money, and my full heart into making this event a reality. I’ve met with city departments, spoken with police officers, reached out to local organizations, walked door to door talking with residents, gathered community feedback, and done everything I can to make sure this event is safe, organized, and beneficial for everyone involved. This has never been about me—it’s always been about our community.

The support we’ve received from the people who live around W. 32nd Street and Sackett Avenue has been incredible. Neighbors have encouraged us, local businesses have stepped up, vendors have committed to participating, and families are excited to attend. Seeing our community come together has reminded me why this event matters so much.

At the same time, this process has been challenging. There have been moments where it has felt like getting this event approved has become more difficult than it needs to be. My hope is not to create conflict with the City of Cleveland, but to build a partnership. I believe we all want the same thing—a safe, positive event that brings people together and showcases the best of our neighborhood.

This block party is about more than music and food. It’s about creating opportunities for small businesses and local entrepreneurs. It’s about giving families a free event where they can make memories together. It’s about showing young people something positive happening in their own neighborhood. It’s about reminding everyone that our community deserves investment, celebration, and support.

By signing this petition, you’re not just supporting one event. You’re supporting a community that wants to come together in a positive way. You’re showing that residents believe in celebrating culture, supporting local businesses, and creating safe spaces where neighbors can connect.

I respectfully ask the City of Cleveland to continue working with us, listen to the voices of the community, and help make the Cleveland Boricua Block Party on August 15, 2026, a successful, safe, and welcoming event for everyone.

Cleveland Boricua Block Party – 15 de agosto de 2026

Cuando por primera vez tuve la idea de crear el Cleveland Boricua Block Party, no fue porque quisiera organizar otro evento más. Lo hice porque quería crear algo de lo que nuestro vecindario pudiera sentirse orgulloso. Quería que las familias tuvieran un lugar donde reunirse, que los pequeños negocios locales tuvieran una oportunidad para crecer y que nuestra cultura puertorriqueña y latina pudiera celebrarse aquí mismo, en el corazón de Cleveland.

Durante los últimos meses he invertido incontables horas, mi propio dinero y todo mi corazón para hacer realidad este evento. Me he reunido con diferentes departamentos de la ciudad, he hablado con oficiales de policía, me he comunicado con organizaciones locales, he ido puerta por puerta conversando con los residentes, he escuchado las opiniones de la comunidad y he hecho todo lo posible para asegurarme de que este evento sea seguro, organizado y beneficioso para todos. Esto nunca se ha tratado de mí; siempre se ha tratado de nuestra comunidad.

El apoyo que hemos recibido de los residentes que viven alrededor de la calle W. 32nd y Sackett Avenue ha sido increíble. Los vecinos nos han brindado palabras de aliento, los negocios locales han decidido apoyarnos, los vendedores se han comprometido a participar y muchas familias están emocionadas por asistir. Ver a nuestra comunidad unirse me ha recordado por qué este evento significa tanto para mí.

Al mismo tiempo, este proceso ha sido un gran reto. Ha habido momentos en los que ha sentido que lograr la aprobación de este evento ha sido más difícil de lo que debería ser. Mi intención nunca ha sido crear conflictos con la Ciudad de Cleveland, sino construir una alianza. Estoy convencido de que todos queremos lo mismo: un evento seguro, positivo y familiar que reúna a nuestra gente y muestre lo mejor de nuestro vecindario.

Este Block Party representa mucho más que música y comida. Se trata de crear oportunidades para los pequeños negocios y emprendedores locales. Se trata de ofrecerles a las familias un evento gratuito donde puedan crear recuerdos inolvidables. Se trata de brindarles a nuestros jóvenes la oportunidad de ver algo positivo sucediendo en su propio barrio. Se trata de recordarles a todos que nuestra comunidad merece inversión, reconocimiento y apoyo.

Al firmar esta petición, no solo estás apoyando un evento. Estás apoyando a una comunidad que desea unirse de manera positiva. Estás demostrando que los residentes creen en celebrar nuestra cultura, respaldar a los negocios locales y crear espacios seguros donde los vecinos puedan convivir y fortalecer sus lazos.

Con mucho respeto, le pido a la Ciudad de Cleveland que continúe trabajando junto a nosotros, que escuche la voz de la comunidad y que nos ayude a hacer del Cleveland Boricua Block Party, el próximo 15 de agosto de 2026, un evento exitoso, seguro y acogedor para todos.
