I am a parent of children who attend the Soledad Unified School District, and today, I was shocked to hear that one of our most respected preschool teachers, Mrs. Laura Maldonado, has been placed on administrative leave. This decision was made last Thursday due to a complaint involving a child in her class at Gabilan Elementary School.

Throughout my years of knowing Mrs. Maldonado, she has consistently shown dedication, compassion, and professionalism. Any parent who has had the privilege of having a child in her class will likely agree that she has always been the epitome of how a preschool teacher should behave, especially when provided with limited resources. Her nurturing demeanor and unwavering patience have left a positive impact on countless children and families in our community.

The accusation that has led to her administrative leave is deeply concerning, and as a community, we must ensure that due process is followed.
