The Issue

As parents, we know how important it is for children to have safe, open spaces to play, explore, and grow.

That’s why we fully support Sunset Dunes—San Francisco’s newest oceanfront park built on the former Great Highway.

This park is a gift to families across the city. It gives kids room to ride bikes, climb, run, and enjoy nature by the beach.

In just its first month, it saw 150,000 visitors. It’s already the third-most popular park in the city.

But now, Sunset Dunes is under threat.

A group of opponents is trying to undo the park—filing lawsuits, pushing recalls, and attacking city leaders who made it possible. Some want to bring cars back to the road, even as families are finally enjoying a space designed for people, not traffic.

This park is not just about leisure—it’s about public health, climate, community, and childhood. We need more safe places like Sunset Dunes, not fewer.

We are calling on San Francisco city officials to stand firm in support of Sunset Dunes and protect it from legal and political attacks

Reject any attempt to undo the voter-supported plan to close the Great Highway to cars
Invest in more people-first parks across the city—especially in underserved neighborhoods!

Our kids deserve oceanfront parks, not car fumes. Our families need space to breathe, not more pavement.

Sunset Dunes is a success. Let’s protect it—and build more like it.
