Support South Africa's Referral of Israel to the ICJ for Alleged Genocidal Crimes

The Issue

As someone with family ties to South Africa, I am deeply moved by their decision to refer Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for alleged genocidal crimes against Palestinians in Gaza. This bold move is a beacon of hope for those who believe in justice and human rights. The recent conflict has resulted in an estimated 21,000 deaths, a number that continues to rise as the situation remains unresolved.

Hypocrisy has, it would seem, no limits when it comes to South Africa’s foreign policy. Exactly a week before the country was due to accuse Israel of genocide before the International Court of Justice (icj) on January 11th, President Cyril Ramaphosa played host to Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, a Sudanese warlord whose Janjaweed militia and its successor are accused of genocide and war crimes in Darfur. Adding to the insult, Mr Dagalo, also known as Hemedti, later visited the genocide museum in Kigali, Rwanda.

Just as jarring was a ceremony on December 5th marking ten years since the death of Nelson Mandela, a man seen by the world as a symbol of reconciliation and peace. A Hamas delegation led by Bassem Naim, a senior official, joined Mandela’s grandson, Mandla, in a march through the streets of Pretoria, the capital. At their destination—the statue of Madiba (as Mandela is honorifically known) that stands proudly outside the president’s office—they laid a wreath with

South Africa's referral could potentially lead to international action that might alleviate the suffering of Gazans and bring about justice. However, this can only happen if we garner enough support globally. We need your signature on this petition not just as a show of solidarity with Palestinians but also as an endorsement for international law and justice.

The world cannot continue turning a blind eye towards these alleged war crimes; it is time we demand accountability from those responsible. By signing this petition, you are contributing towards a global call for justice and peace - something that every citizen deserves irrespective of their nationality or ethnicity.

Please sign this petition today and help us support South Africa's brave stand against injustice!
