Support Sione Huihahau's quest for New Zealand residency
The issue
It is with a heartfelt plea that I write to support my father, Sione Huihahau, in his quest to remain in New Zealand permanently. Originally from Tonga, my father is currently on a visitor visa and desperately needs the stability and security that comes with residency. At 74 years of age, he has a vibrant family life, proudly being a grandfather to over 16 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 9 great-grandchildren. His presence in our lives is invaluable, and we wish to preserve this.
My father is cared for full-time by my mother and faces significant health challenges, including severe asthma and arthritis. In New Zealand, he benefits from better access to essential medication and healthcare services that are not as readily available in Tonga. His medical needs are ongoing and intensive, making it crucial for him to stay where he can receive the care and support he needs to maintain his health and well-being.
Beyond healthcare, my father has found joy and a sense of belonging in his local community through involvement with the RSA club. This social engagement is vital to his mental and emotional well-being, giving him a reason to get out and be active in his community. The positive impact this has on his quality of life is immeasurable.
Supporting my father's application for New Zealand residency would not only ensure his continued access to necessary medical care but also allow him to remain integrated into a community that he loves and where he feels at home. His presence enriches our family and the community alike. With his experiences and wisdom, he contributes to our cultural tapestry and our shared stories.
We urge the New Zealand immigration authorities to consider these factors and grant permanent residency to my father, Sione Huihahau. Please join us in advocating for his right to remain in New Zealand by signing this petition. Your signature can make a difference in ensuring that my father lives his remaining years in peace, surrounded by his loved ones and receiving the care he needs.
