The Issue

Petition in Support of Richmond’s Historic Revitalization

Project: The Manor Estates of Aubreyopolis, Richmond TX

To: Richmond City Commission and Planning & Zoning Commission

Location: Richmond City Hall Annex, 600 Morton Street, Richmond TX

We, the undersigned, respectfully urge the Richmond City Commission and the Planning & Zoning Commission to approve the requested replat and variance applications for the project known as The Manor Estates of Aubreyopolis.

These approvals will allow the careful revitalization and preservation of Richmond’s century-old buildings located on this historic property. The project honors Richmond’s legacy as a city “Where History Meets Opportunity” while bringing new life, safety, and economic value to the Morton Street corridor.

Why This Matters

  • Preserving Richmond’s Character: The Manor Estates of Aubreyopolis project restores original structures dating back almost a century, retaining the architectural charm that defines our historic downtown.
  • Strengthening Community Roots: This project reflects the best of Richmond — neighbors coming together to preserve our shared history, protect what makes our city unique, and ensure that progress respects the character and stories that built this community.
  • Stop the Waste — Choose Restoration Over Rubble: Tearing down solid, century-old buildings just to haul them to a landfill makes no sense. Revitalizing them saves history, saves money, and prevents tons of debris and CO₂ emissions from needless demolition.
  • Revitalizing a Decaying Property: This long-neglected site will once again become a point of pride — attracting residents, visitors, and local investment.
  • Positive Community Impact: Revitalization will strengthen surrounding property values, improve neighborhood safety, and contribute to the City’s long-term revitalization goals.
  • Smart Growth, Not Demolition: Granting these variances allows restoration to move forward responsibly and in line with community priorities — avoiding demolition and dense new construction that would erase a piece of Richmond’s history.
