Support Rezoning Rural Properties for Home-Based Automotive Businesses
The Issue
To us, a vehicle is more than just a form of transportation; it's an extension of who we are. This sentiment is deeply ingrained in me. Ever since I was young, I've been fascinated with automotive body repair. I dedicated my school years to mastering this craft and graduated with high honours. Every day I apply these skills to my home-based automotive business in East Hants, Nova Scotia. My livelihood and passion are intertwined; they both centre around this business of mine.
But there's an obstacle. Our rural properties aren't zoned for commercial activities, restricting the growth and impact of trades like ours. Here in East Hants, we deeply value our local enterprises. They contribute not only to our economy but also to our sense of community. Moreover, these home-based businesses offer affordable rates and personalized services. Without them, vehicle owners will be forced to pay the escalating labour rates in larger auto shops or outsource to communities far from home.
By rezoning rural properties for commercial use, we’ll support local small businesses and ensure our community members aren't burdened with high costs for essential automotive body repairs. We ask the East Hants council to view this request not just as a facilitating step for small businesses, but as an investment in our community's future.
Let us come together, support this cause and save our local automotive/tire service industry. We need legislative changes to recognize the value of home-based businesses. Stand with us. Sign this petition today.
