Retain Ms. Weisner – Sherwood Elementary School

To the Islip Board of Education and Central Administration decision makers;

We, the undersigned parents, guardians, and community members, respectfully urge you to reconsider the decision regarding the non-renewal of Ms. Weisner’s contract at Sherwood Elementary School.

Ms. Weisner, lovingly known as “Flowergirl” to students, is a highly effective and deeply valued educator whose impact on students extends far beyond the classroom. She consistently demonstrates professionalism, compassion, and a strong commitment to student success. Her classroom fosters an inclusive, supportive, and engaging environment where all students are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Her ability to connect with students, understand their individual needs, and build their confidence is truly remarkable.

Ms. Weisner is not only an outstanding teacher, but also a trusted partner to families and a vital contributor to the positive culture of Sherwood Elementary School. Educators of her caliber are not easily replaced, and her absence would be a significant loss to the school community.

Continuity, trust, and meaningful relationships are essential in elementary education. The removal of a dedicated and effective teacher disrupts that stability and directly impacts student well-being and success.

We respectfully ask the Board of Education and Central Administration to prioritize students and community voice by retaining Ms. Weisner. Supporting and keeping exceptional educators reflects a strong commitment to educational excellence and the future of our children.

While we understand that personnel decisions are complex, we respectfully ask the Administration to reconsider this decision—or at the very least, to provide transparency in how educators are evaluated, supported, and retained. Our community deserves to understand how decisions are made regarding teachers who are clearly making a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of our children.
