Hello Falmouth Residents, Once again it’s time to contact Falmouth’s selectmen to voice your support for operation of the town’s wind turbines. Selectmen meet at 7pm Tuesday 1/2/18 to discuss the turbines. Abandoning the turbines will cost Falmouth taxpayers $14 MILLION (per CC Times 7/7/17). Help prevent this awful possibility! Please take a moment right now to urge selectmen to appeal the flawed court ruling which recently shut down both turbines. See email template below – customize it to describe YOUR support for safe clean energy and town revenue. Spread the word - please forward this to family and friends! Best wishes for 2018. Respectfully, Friends of Falmouth Wind www.facebook.com/friendsoffalmouthwind - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TEMPLATE - customize this with your own words - To:  selectmen@falmouthmass.us CC: townmanager@falmouthmass.us,  falmouthwindfriends@gmail.com Re:  Support for Continued Turbine Operation Dear Falmouth Board of Selectmen, I believe your board was in error not to appeal Judge Moriarty’s ruling shutting down Falmouth’s wind turbines. To attempt to rectify that expensive mistake, I urge your board to support The Green Center’s effort seeking reconsideration from the court. The rush to dismantle Wind 1 is badly misguided, especially since there has been no court order to remove it. Falmouth’s windmill bylaw, under which the turbines were erected, has no requirement for decommissioning after 12 months of inactivity. This is the bylaw which has been referenced in all court cases concerning the turbines (not the newer bylaw). In May 2013, Falmouth voters in all nine precincts rejected funding turbine removal, by a 2-1 margin. The Board of Selectmen has a fiduciary obligation to respect this mandate from the electorate, and to explore all options to continue turbine operation, with appropriate mitigation measures as may be needed. Again, please do not support an unnecessary rush to dismantle Wind 1, and please support the Green Center’s request for reconsideration. Thank you, INSERT YOUR NAME AND FALMOUTH ADDRESS HERE
