🎉 2,000+ Voices for a Better DeKalb! 🎉
Today, we're celebrating an incredible milestone—more than 2,000 people have signed in support of redeveloping 5395 Covington Highway.
To every resident, business owner, faith leader, community advocate, and supporter who has shared our vision: thank you. Your voice matters, and together you've demonstrated that there is broad public interest in investing in the future of this corridor.
This movement has never been just about one business.
It's about transforming a long-vacant property into something that serves the community. It's about replacing blight with investment, inactivity with opportunity, and neglected spaces with places where families and local businesses can thrive.
For years, many of us have watched properties throughout our community sit vacant while illegal dumping, burned-out buildings, encampments, and deteriorating commercial corridors have become all too common. Those issues don't define DeKalb County—but they are real challenges that deserve real solutions.
Redevelopment is one of those solutions.
Every responsible investment has the potential to create jobs, increase the tax base, improve public safety through active use of vacant properties, and encourage additional businesses to invest in our community. Revitalization doesn't happen overnight, but it begins with people who are willing to believe that our neighborhoods deserve better.
The support we've received tells us something important:
Our community isn't satisfied with watching opportunities disappear. People are speaking up because they want progress. They want investment. They want safer, cleaner, and more vibrant commercial corridors.
As this process continues, we remain committed to listening, engaging respectfully with our neighbors, and working with community leaders and county officials to ensure this project reflects the best interests of DeKalb County.
We're not asking people to ignore concerns—we're asking everyone to imagine what is possible when vacant properties become productive community assets.
This is about improving DeKalb one business, one investment, and one revitalized property at a time.
We still have work to do.
