On behalf of my now; only brother living out of three. My little brother Troy Garcia, I am pleading for leniency in  the honorable judge .....  courtroom. Few things in life are as devastating as watching a loved one entangled in the justice system. My little brother, Troy, has faced some of the toughest realities life has to offer. He has moved past his past mistakes and proven himself to have changed significantly. 

Despite our traumatic experiences, Troy has shown remarkable progress and growth. He has used his past as a stepping stone to enlightenment, exhibiting drastic transformations through learning and maturity. His unwavering resilience, spirit, and determination to make positive changes for himself and our family are praiseworthy.

Research has shown that rehabilitation is a far more effective response to crime than punishment alone. According to the National Institute of Justice, recidivism rates decrease significantly when a person is provided support and rehabilitation (2014). Troy is actively pursuing a better version of himself. He is committed to his rehabilitation journey, demonstrating that he is a changed individual.

We are not here to condone his past actions, but to acknowledge his efforts to amend his ways, learn from his mistakes, and become a better person. Recognizing a person's capacity for change and rehabilitation is a fundamental aspect of their growth.

We humbly ask that Judge Turner, and all those present, show leniency and kindness to Troy Garcia. He has learned, he has grown, he has changed, and he deserves to go on to lead a purposeful life.
