Dear supporters of our past "Save Chinatown" campaign,
We hope you're doing well. Apologies that we haven't reached out sooner.
During that last campaign we had over 1,200 online and hard-copy petitions but BART exercised their first right of refusal on Asian Health Service and East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation's offer to purchase the MetroCenter Building. Since then AHS was able to lease part of the ground floor to relocate many of its departments to house its Administrative HQ there and is wrapping up the first
In the past couple months, BART has restarted a transit oriented development process for two of the Lake Merritt BART Station blocks: 1) The station parking lot block, and 2) The MetroCenter Building block.
As interest in these blocks is regaining steam, many Chinatown stakeholders and supporters are coming together to propose a shared vision for the station area that would grow the existing communities including Chinatown.
We hope if you supported our first petition that you'll support the vision living on in the larger station area:

As this campaign and the BART TOD process continues, we will keep you informed about how you can stay involved.
