Support Needed for Construction of a Senior Care Facility in Lomita

The Issue

For some time, our community has identified a heartbreaking issue—the vulnerability of our elderly population, who often fall into homelessness due to the absent care they need in a facility setting. This has not only affected our beloved seniors, but it has also touched my family personally. It has motivated us to step in and take action.

The proposed solution is a 34-bedroom elderly assisted care facility right here in the City of Lomita. It promises to not only provide the necessary care for our elders but to also offer a cozy, homely environment when they most need it. Unfortunately, the City planning office is yet to approve the plans which have been put forth.

It’s important to realize that, according to the California Department of Aging, over 5 million seniors struggle with daily tasks. Of this number, a staggering amount reside in Los Angeles County, and are in dire need of such facilities (California Department of Aging, 2019).

There are currently no elderly assisted care facilities in Lomita. The approval of this project is vital to fix this issue. It’s not just about constructing a building; it’s about creating a home and providing services to alleviate the difficulties faced by seniors in our community and offering them a secure and care-filled environment.

We now turn to you, the residents and neighbors of the City of Lomita, to support this sincere initiative. Your voice and support could turn the tide towards the approval of this Senior Care project. Please sign this petition and show that our community cares about its elderly citizens and their dire needs. Sign today. Let's make Lomita a place where seniors can live their golden years in peace and with dignity.
