As you are well aware, it is winter and the landlords in the state of New Jersey are ruthless to tenants who are recipients of Section 8 housing, especially those living in apartments in buildings owned by EJM Development (also known as Real Estate Management). If you are on Section 8 and you live in an apartment owned by this company, you or you and your family probably have made complaints to the landlords who own the building you live in (about something in your apartment/building that needed to be repaired or complaints of harassment). They have probably either been ignored on a repetitive basis.
If you have been dealing with any of these situations, you can call a few numbers to voice your complaints. You can call:
- New Jersey Division of Codes & Standards Landlord/Tenant Information Service 101 South Broad Street P.O. Box 818 Trenton, NJ 08625 Phone: 1-609-292-7899 Fax: 1-609-633-6729
- New Jersey Board of Public Utilities 44 South Clinton Avenue P.O. Box 350 Trenton NJ 08625 Phone: (609) 777-3300 or (800) 624-0241 or if you live in the Newark area: 2 Gateway Center Newark, NJ 07102 Phone: (201)648-2350.
- Or you can go to Justia Lawyers at https://www.justia.com look for your city and then, call the lawyer's number and let them know about your landlord complaint.
If and when you need to use these numbers, make sure you clearly voice your complaint in great detail and make sure you make follow-up calls every now and again to ensure that your situation is being dealt with.
