As a lifelong resident of our community, I have always been dedicated to fostering a thriving local economy and supporting initiatives that enhance the life of our neighbourhood. It is with this commitment in mind that I embarked on the journey to create MAICAFE, a unique local café aiming to bring people together and strengthen our economic landscape.

MAICAFE not only creates jobs for our youth but also supports other local businesses by sourcing ingredients from nearby suppliers whenever possible. This project is my passion, built from the ground up by a local for the locals, and it represents more than just a business—it is a pillar of community engagement and sustainability.

However, recent planning constraints threaten the future of MAICAFE and its significant contributions to our community. While I am more than willing to adhere to reasonable planning conditions regarding hours of operation and soundproofing, I need the support of the council and community to continue this work.

Our youth deserve employment opportunities, and our neighbours deserve a gathering place that serves as a community hub. By supporting MAICAFE, we are choosing to bolster our local economy, create jobs, and foster a sense of community pride.

I urge you, my neighbours and fellow community members, to rally together and show your support for a homegrown initiative that benefits us all. Together, we can work with the local council to find a fair and balanced approach that allows MAICAFE to operate successfully while respecting the needs of the entire community.
