But the common council will be voting on Alder Skidmore’s amendment in mid-January to fund an additional eight Madison cops and three squad cars. We have to seize this opportunity and act quickly. If we want a big win next month, we need you, and more importantly our cops need you. The following are three practical steps you can take to help us reach our goal. Even doing just one of these is a huge help. 1. Write to Mayor Soglin & Common Council If you do just one thing, let it be this! I’ve created a pre-filled form letter that lets you send an email in a matter of minutes (or less). Just enter your name and contact information, re-word the letter if preferred (or leave as is), then press Send Your Letter – and it’ll be delivered directly to the mayor and all alders. Ask Others to Write Let’s make this campaign go viral . . . because the more letters we send, the better chance we have of convincing common council to vote yes. Share our pre-filled form letter with anyone who adores our kick-butt police force. Facebook, Twitter, email, and Nextdoor are all great venues for sharing. 3. Pen a Letter to the Newspapers This one takes a little more time, but if you’re up to it, write to the local newspapers, explaining why the mayor and alders need to sign on as co-sponsors and vote YES on Paul’s amendment.
