Save the Church House community space!
The Issue
Low income artistic types need a community space to network, collaborate, and present their work. A healthy community needs a thriving and supported artistic network to promote and encourage civic participation. Local businesses need a healthy artistic community to maintain and encourage local civic pride and involvement. Local economies need an integrative holistic approach to creating a cultural identity that will encourage citizens to participate by attending and spending.
The church house and its inhabitants are a bastion of the cultural arts and not just some fleck of dead skin to be flicked away. The elimination of such cultural hubs is a crucial signifier of a cancerous fragmentation of society as a whole. As things stand, countless cities are struggling to rebound from the economic effects of COVID-19. One of the biggest factor feeding into this is the isolation that people have been struggling with. This has been detrimental to both the collective psyche and the individual pocket books of many who were once intimately involved in various community activities.
The simplest and most effective response to these problems is to bolster the creative community, thereby giving individuals a reason to attend and spend while giving communities a chance to convene, reconnect, network, and break the detrimental cycle of isolation.
By saving the church house, we will be securing and maintaining an inclusive space for countless groups, many of which will otherwise disentigrate. For years now, we have been giving thousands of individuals access to a space where they feel accepted, thus transforming their individual experience from a slow slide into despondency into a positive participatory chance for individual and group development and growth.
Communities across the world are struggling to rebound and regain a sense of hope and purpose. The longer we allow the COVID-19 trauma response to perpetuate isolation and fragmentation, the worse off our economies and cultures will be. It is time to heal, and it is time to promote, protect and encourage those individuals in our communities who stand for and support this healing process.
