Support Little Falls' Troy Rockwell Memorial Dog Park

Support Little Falls' Troy Rockwell Memorial Dog Park
The Issue
Two years ago, my fiancée lost her brother, Troy Rockwell. He was kind, loyal, and had a deep love for animals. To honor his memory, we aim to create a positive space that brings people together and benefits the community—a project as heartfelt and significant as Troy's impact on those who knew him. Our vision is to establish the 'Troy Rockwell Memorial Dog Park' in Little Falls, New York.
Little Falls currently lacks a designated dog park, leaving many local pet owners without a safe, accessible place for their dogs to play and socialize. The closest facility is in Utica, a 40-minute drive away, making it inconvenient for regular visits. Establishing a dog park in our city would provide much-needed enrichment to both pets and their owners, fostering community health and engagement.
Dog parks are more than just recreational spaces. They promote exercise and socialization for dogs and their owners, help reduce behavioral issues in pets, and offer an opportunity for community members to connect and network. Studies have shown that exercising with pets can significantly boost physical and mental health, reducing stress and increasing happiness.
Creating the Troy Rockwell Memorial Dog Park would also enhance local safety. By designating a secure, off-leash space for dogs, we can minimize accidents and confrontations that occur when pets are exercised in inappropriate areas.
This endeavor not only serves as a tribute to Troy's love for animals but also as a step towards healing and hope for families impacted by addiction. It’s about creating a legacy of joy, connection, and community spirit—values that Troy embodied.
We kindly ask for your support to bring this vision to life. Please sign this petition to urge our local government to allocate resources and land for this meaningful project. Together, we can create a safer, happier community in Little Falls.
