Objective

We respectfully request that the Georgia General Assembly evaluate the fiscal and operational impacts of the City of Mableton and introduce legislation that would provide a lawful process to dissolve the City of Mableton.

Request

We, the undersigned residents, property owners, and supporters of responsible local government, respectfully request that the Georgia General Assembly review the fiscal, operational, and governance impacts of the City of Mableton and consider legislation that would dissolve the city or provide residents with an opportunity to vote on its future.

We believe this request is warranted because many residents have expressed concerns regarding the long-term financial impact of cityhood, overlapping governmental services, increased administrative costs, and whether sufficient information was available to voters before incorporation.

Community Concerns

• Potential increases in the long-term tax burden on residents
• Duplication of services already provided by Cobb County or neighboring municipalities
• Additional administrative costs associated with maintaining another layer of local government
