For the past 20 years, our friend, an extraordinary woman, has been dedicating her life to rescuing animals in need. She singlehandedly runs a boarding facility that serves as a sanctuary for countless abandoned and rescued animals—a mission she has devoted her entire life to. Many of these animals were originally boarded by owners who later abandoned them, leaving her to take on the responsibility of care while the rest are rescued from the streets. Majority of the current boarding animals are not home pets but rescued stray dogs and cats that individual rescuers board out of their own pocket while finding them a home.

This boarding facility not only serves as a temporary refuge but often becomes a permanent home for senior animals or those with challenging temperaments, making rehoming a soul-wrenching task. With tireless effort, she has managed to rehome many of the animals, giving them a second chance at finding loving homes. However, the facility is more than just a building; it is the heart of her operation and the cornerstone of her life's work.

Today, we received alarming news: the authorities informed her that she has not been successful in obtaining the tenancy needed to continue her operations due to her tenancy proposal that was 'not beyond the basic standard'.

This means that she may be forced to close the facility with a short 3 months time frame,  putting countless animals at risk and disrupting the amazing rescue work she has sustained for so long. Her life's work—and the lives of countless animals—now hang in the balance. For a Chinese speaking lady who function singlehandedly and do not speak the best English, the proposal was a major struggle.

This passionate animal rescuer that many know, Esther,  has saved many lives and provided loving care to animals that society often overlooks. Preventing her from continuing to lease this facility threatens not only her livelihood but also a vital component of our community's compassion towards our four-legged friends.

We are calling on the local authorities to reconsider their stance and renew her lease, ensuring this pivotal rescue work can persevere. Animal shelters and rescues are overwhelmed, and independent rescuers like her are essential to providing care for animals that otherwise might fall through the cracks. The boarding place is not just a business to her, her profit is little to none after dedicating much cost to the ones under her care with no owners
