Support independence and freedom for Kurdistan

The Issue

The Kurdish people have long been striving for independence, justice, and freedom in the region known as Kurdistan, which spans parts of Iraq, Turkey, Syria, and Iran. Despite their distinct cultural, linguistic, and historical identity, the Kurds remain the largest stateless ethnic group in the world, comprising around 30 million people. It is time to support their legitimate right to self-determination and establish Kurdistan as an independent nation.

For decades, the Kurdish region has faced systemic marginalization and oppression. In Iraq, after years of suffering under Saddam Hussein's regime, the Kurdistan Regional Government was established, providing a semi-autonomous area for Kurds. However, continual threats from external forces and political instability have prevented full realization of their aspirations. In Turkey, the government's policy towards Kurdish identity has been traditionally repressive, and peace talks have repeatedly broken down.

Kurdistan's potential for prosperity is immense. The region is rich in natural resources such as oil and gas and has demonstrated economic resilience and effective governance in areas under Kurdish control. The Kurds have also been invaluable allies in combating extremism, playing a critical role in the fight against ISIS. Their commitment to creating a democratic, secular society stands as a beacon of hope in an often tumultuous region.

Despite the geopolitical challenges, supporting Kurdish independence can foster peace and stability in the Middle East. It recognizes the sacrifices and contributions of the Kurdish people and honors their right to govern themselves as enshrined in international law.

Join us in advocating for the independence and freedom of Kurdistan. This is not just a Kurdish cause—it is a human rights issue and a step towards justice and equality. Sign this petition to call upon the international community to recognize and support the legitimate aspirations of the Kurdish people.
