The Issue

Hello!

We are thrilled to announce that our union, IRC Workers Unite, has been voluntarily recognized—a significant victory for all of us who believe in a fairer, more supportive workplace. However, our fight is not over. HQ and management at IRC are now attempting to exclude some of our colleagues from joining our union nationally. This decision not only undermines the spirit of unity that our recognition represents but also goes against the principles of labor law.

According to labor law, specific criteria must be met for employees to be excluded from a union. These criteria often pertain to managerial roles, confidential positions tied directly to labor relations, or those whose job functions significantly differ from the rest of the workforce. The individuals that management seeks to exclude do not meet any of these legal standards. They work alongside us, share our challenges, and contribute equally to the success of our mission at IRC.

We Need Your Support:

Excluding these workers from our union does not just deny them a voice—it weakens all of us. Our strength comes from our collective power, our shared experiences, and our unified demands for better conditions. By allowing all eligible employees to join, we can better advocate for improvements that benefit everyone at IRC, ensuring that our workplace values each of us equally.

Join Us in Urging IRC to Do the Right Thing:

We urge IRC to recognize the contributions of all its workers by including everyone in our union, as they rightfully deserve. This is not just about following the law—it’s about respecting the hard work and dedication of every employee who makes our mission possible.

Please stand with us in demanding that IRC honors our collective voice. Together, we can ensure that every worker at IRC is heard, valued, and given the right to unionize.
