Support HR7467 to bring justice for trafficking victims

Support HR7467 to bring justice for trafficking victims
The Issue
This petition calls for support of Virginia’s Law (H.R. 7467), a federal bill that seeks to expand justice for survivors of sexual abuse and human trafficking. The bill would create new legal pathways for victims to file civil lawsuits against not only their abusers, but also individuals or organizations that knowingly benefited from these crimes. It also removes or extends the statute of limitations for many of these cases, recognizing that survivors often need years to come forward. Virginia’s Law is important because it prioritizes accountability and gives survivors a greater opportunity to seek justice, even long after the abuse has occurred. By allowing civil action against those who enabled or profited from exploitation, the bill strengthens protections and helps prevent future harm. Our project group chose this bill as the focus of our advocacy project because it addresses a critical social issue and demonstrates how legislation can directly impact people’s lives. It allows us to engage with a real policy effort aimed at supporting vulnerable populations and promoting justice. Through this project, we aim to raise awareness, encourage civic engagement, and show how advocacy can influence meaningful legal change. By signing this petition, you are supporting survivors and urging lawmakers to pass legislation that ensures greater accountability and access to justice.
