As a student of Decatur high school who holds strong personal ties to the Boeing corporation, I write this petition with a deep-rooted sense of responsibility. My father, a former unionized Boeing employee, who eventually rose to managerial levels, was recently furloughed, a move the corporation justified as a "cost-saving measure". This is a representation of a growing trend within Boeing that places shareholder profits over the public’s safety and the well-being of its employees.

Boeing, a significant employer in Renton, WA, USA, is overlooking a crucial component - its unionized workforce, comprising over 30,000 dedicated individuals. These workers, who essentially keep the corporation afloat, are demanding fair wages and safer working conditions, demands that indeed, mirror the very essence of basic workers' rights. My father, although now in management, has always championed these rights, consistently backing his teams.

Amplifying the voices of these workers, we, the student body, call upon the larger community and the Boeing corporation to acknowledge these concerns. It is our duty as future leaders to stand up for what is right, to ensure companies like Boeing prioritize their workers' welfare above all else. We beseech Boeing to recognize its workforce's just demands, respect the union's bargaining rights, and start retracing its steps towards a more equitable and safer work environment.
