Support Funding for Broadwater Cricket Club

The Issue

Our children are thriving and thoroughly enjoying their cricket experience at Broadwater Cricket Club. However, to continue providing an exceptional and enriching environment, the club’s base urgently needs investment to ensure it is fit for purpose. Situated on Broadwater Green, this community-driven hub serves as a cornerstone for local families and cricket enthusiasts in Broadwater, Worthing.

Broadwater Cricket Club (established in 1771) has seen a significant rise in popularity, especially among young enthusiasts. The junior section continues to grow steadily, reflecting the vibrant interest in cricket within our community. Nonetheless, maintaining and developing the club's facilities to accommodate this growth requires substantial funding.

Currently, Broadwater Cricket Club faces a challenge—the need to have its lease adjusted so it can access crucial funds from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Lottery Funding. Without this adjustment, the club cannot benefit from these essential financial resources. By securing these funds, the club can enhance its facilities, support its growing junior section, and ensure long-term sustainability. This step will enable us to continue nurturing young talent, fostering community spirit, and encouraging a love for cricket among our children.

We call upon Worthing and Adur Council to support us in our quest to modify the lease, without taking a fully repairing lease which the club cannot afford, thereby unlocking access to necessary funding streams. Their involvement is vital in securing the future of Broadwater Cricket Club, providing our children and the community with improved resources and opportunities to enjoy and excel in cricket.

Sign this petition to urge Worthing and Adur Council to make this positive change, empowering Broadwater Cricket Club to secure the funding it needs for maintenance and development. Together, let's invest in our children's sports and preserve a cherished community asset.
