I am writing to you as a resident of Fairview, Texas in support of the proposed temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be located on Stacy Road, west of Meandering Way and adjacent to the Church’s existing chapel in Fairview.  I am a member of the Church and I am excited about this wonderful building in our Town.

As a person of faith, to have a place to worship so close to home is exciting to me.  I currently attend the temple in Dallas, but that is a long way to travel for both adults and youth who want to attend the temple as often as they can.  Worshiping Jesus Christ at the temple gives me an opportunity to pray, to feel peace, and to enter into the highest covenants of our faith.  The temple is a place of learning where I am reminded of God’s plan for me and the role that Jesus Christ plays as my Savior.  Through ceremonies in the temple, I make promises to Them which strengthen my relationship with Them and my resolve to follow Their teachings and to be a better wife, mother, daughter, friend, and neighbor.  I love being in the temple.

The planned temple will consist of two floors and a partial basement and will have one steeple with a spire.  As with buildings for many Christian denominations, it has a steeple whose purpose is to draw eyes towards heaven and remind all of the love of God and our divine purposes.  The temple is different from the adjacent chapel in that it is used by individuals and small groups of people throughout the day (Tuesday through Saturday) to participate in the highest covenants and ordinances of our faith.  The nearby chapel is where regular Sunday meetings are held.  The temple grounds will be beautifully landscaped and will allow any person, regardless of his or her religious beliefs of affiliation, to enjoy the peace the temple will bring.
